4th of July freebie and cupcake topper tutorial
4th of July freebie alert! I wanted to share with you this free set of printable cupcake toppers set perfect for Memorial Day and Independence Day.
I originally made this cupcake toppers for my personal use and since they were so cute I thought I should share them with you. These cupcake toppers and can be also used to decorate goodie bags!
These 4th of July cupcake toppers are super easy to make.
There are six different designs included in the set. Here’s a close up of the printed page. I printed them on inexpensive white Neenah cardstock.
How to make the cupcake toppers
First off you need to download the file, please find the download link at the bottom of this post. Once you downloaded the freebie, you will need to unzip the folder in order to access the printable sheets.
I included two file formats, JPEG and PDF files since many of my customers find the PDF’s easier to print. Select file format you like and send it to your printer. When you are in your print dialog box, make sure to deselect “scale to fit” so that the printer does not resize the designs.
Cut them out with a trimmer, you can use them as squares or give them a fancy shape using a punch.
I always design my cupcake toppers to fit a standard 2 inch scallop punch (which seems to be my customer’s favorite punch), that’s why it is important to set your printer to print actual size, if your printer reduces the size of the toppers, they’ll be too small for this punch.
Simply mount the toppers on lollipop sticks or small bamboo skewers using a piece of scotch tape, then punch out an extra shape in plain white cardstock to cover the back of the topper, gluing it with mounting tape to keep the paper from bending.
This is how the back of the topper is going to look like.
Remember, it does not have to be perfect, the most important thing is to have fun!
